Dieser Tage habe ich mal wieder die Zitadelle Spandau besucht - das große Erscheinungsbild ist barock oder friderizianisch, aber der Kernbestand, der heute praktisch unsichtbar ist, geht bis ins 10. Jh. zurück.

 

Nordmauer und Bastion "Königin":

Besonders eindrucksvoll im harten Frühnachmittagslicht: Die "Italienischen Höfe". Das sind die halb-unterirdisch angelegten Zugänge zu einer Reihe von Lagergebäuden und Werkstätten, die beschußsicher im Innern der "Bastion Brandenburg" angelegt waren. Was beschusssicher so heißt. In der Bastion Königin, war das Munitionsdepot ebenfalls unterirdisch untergebracht. Das haben die Preussen selbst, als sie ihre damals von den Franzosen besetzte Festung zurückeroberten, durch Beschuss von außerhalb zur Explosion gebracht. Heute ist da deshalb nur noch eine Grünanlage :). Aber zurück in die "Italienischen Höfe":
